Spring Break! (Taking a break)

Friday: Grandma visits

On Friday we took a break from our Spring Break adventures and stayed at home. Grandma came over to visit and bring Caityn's birthday present - a new swingset!! We went out to lunch at Souplantation, the only restaurant I will take my kids to. I love that we get our food right away, get seated right away, and get out as soon as we're done eating. And there is so much food to choose from, they are always full when we leave. It doesn't hurt that they also get to eat for free...at least until Thursday when Caityn becomes an expensive three year old!

Okay, so the swingset technically wasn't put together until Saturday when Daddy was home, but the photo fit in here. This was the smallest swingset that we could find to fit in our yard that had the glider swing. She LOVES it!! She can swing on it all by herself.

Later, Caityn and Sean helped Daddy do some work in the front yard. We are clearing out all the old dead grass and putting up a white picket fence, which Caityn is calling the "Castle".

Can you guess who picked out her outfit today?

Sean wasn't really helping, but he sure was having fun doing whatever it was he was doing.

Spring Break! (Music Playdates)

Continuing on our spring break adventures, we attended not one, but TWO music playdates on Wed and Thur.

Wednesday: Playdate with Roman and Eva

Friends Roman and Eva invited us over for a music in the park playdate, but since it had rained the night before, we took the playdate indoors. It's always hard to try and get an organized music playdate going when there are too many fun new toys to play with. Roman did an awesome job sharing all his toys...and his dead bee collection too!

Thursday: Playdate with Flynn and Marisol

We were also invited to attend a playdate to view a new Baby Einstein music video with friends Flynn and Marisol. Again, many new toys to play with, both indoor and out. I think Caityn did actually watch a bit of the video...but only because the bowl of veggie sticks was sitting right in front of the TV.

Eating yet again another cupcake!

Playing with friends outside in the very cool backyard.

Caityn sneaking a taste of some yummy chocolate treats. And yes, Caityn is wearing green eye shadow. It was an incentive for her to use the potty before leaving the house that morning.

Spring Break! ( Part 1 )

Thursday, April 9, 2009

We have been super busy this past week! Caityn has been on Spring Break from preschool and we have had so many fun outings every single day so far. Here's a recap on our week. Brace yourself...this will probably be long with lots of pictures!

Saturday: Jayda's Birthday Party

We helped friend Jayda celebrate her third birthday at a fun park.

Sunday: Fabulous Mom's Easter Party

What a fun party this was. It was Caityn's and Sean's first Easter egg hunt, and we presented a beautiful quilt to one of the mom's who has been going through a tough month with her daughter's health.

Tuesday: Children's Museum

We met up with some friends at the San Diego Children's Museum for a morning of chaos and fun. It was pretty crowded with most kids in San Diego being on Spring Break this week, but they had fun none the less.

Waiting for friends to arrive
Silly girls

Having fun!
Those nutty girls!

I bravely let Caityn paint the beat up old VW Bug. Do you see the blue paint on the dress? It didn't come out :(
Concentrating real hard on cutting with scissors.

More cutting with scissors. Don't these two look like twins?

What is that thing Sean?
Children's Museum Employees?

Phew! I was planning on trying to finish the week in one blog posting, but I think I'll have to break it up. Stay tuned for the rest of the week, which will include a birthday celebration for Caityn!

The Magic Jammies

Thursday, April 2, 2009

This is the story of the boy who wore the magic jammies.

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Sean, who gave his parents such grief because he refused to sleep through the night. Just when it was looking like he would start sleeping through the night, he would get sick or start teething, and then his mommy would feel bad for letting him cry. She would get up several times a night to calm and comfort him back to sleep in his cozy little bed with all his blankets and stuffed Elmos. His mommy was soooooo tired from getting up during the night, and she suffered from insomnia.

One Sunday evening, she decided that little Sean was not sick and did not need to get up so many times during the night, so she devised a plan. It was a well thought out plan that would entail getting tough AGAIN. In creating this plan, she tried to remember times when little Sean DID sleep though the night. One such time he was wearing his blue polar bear jammies. His mommy tried putting those jammies on him that night, armed ready to take action in the middle of the night. But she never needed to get up that night! Little Sean slept cozily in his little bed all night long! He cried just a little, but not enough that his mommy would need to get up out of her own bed. She never needed to use the plan. Was it his jammies?

The next night, little Sean wore his blue polar bear jammies again, and again he slept through the night. For the last four nights, little Sean has worn the magic jammies that have helped him sleep through the night. But tonight, his jammies are dirty and need to be washed, so he will have to wear his similar blue and red fire engine jammies. Will the magic spell be broken?

Philosophies of Life: By Caityn

Friday, March 27, 2009

This afternoon, Caityn was rambling on and on about something. I really wasn't sure what she was talking about, but it was just so funny the way she was informing me about her topic. I thought I ought to preserve these funny moments on video so I can remember what she was like when she was two, and also so we can embarrass her later in life.

Silliness

Thursday, March 26, 2009

I was tagged by my friend Tonya to stop everything I was doing and take a photo of myself right then and there and post it to my blog. So, here's my photo. Caityn was standing there right next to me waiting for me to be done on the computer so I could sit and listen to her read Dick and Jane to me. I look like I need to get more sleep! Dick and Jane were certain to put me to sleep. On the plus side, my kid looks cute! Funny thing that happended...the camera died just as I took the picture, so I couldn't even see the photo I took until I recharged the battery. THANKS TONYA....love you for this!

Since Tonya tagged all Erin's, I'm going to tag Kelly and Kelly! Ha ha...you thought you were going to avoid this, didn't you!!

The Return of Captain Danger

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

When we last left our superbaby, he was crushing cheap Ikea tables with his mighty silliness. After that table was demolished, I went back to Ikea and bought a sturdier table and chair set that I intended to have put together in time for Christmas. Well...that never happened. The box remained unopened in our garage for several months. This month, I finally got around to getting that set sanded, painted, and assembled, just in time for Captain Danger's return to action.

Here are the kids enjoying Saturday morning breakfast at their new little table. Looks pretty innocent, doesn't it?
And here is Captain Danger testing out the table's strength while munching on lunch.

And a little table dancing after dinner.

His adventures this week don't end there. Last night while getting his bath, the little guy's soapy hand slipped and he hit his chin on the side of the tub. There was some bleeding, but nothing a little Care Bear bandaid couldn't fix. Then this morning, his bad mommy forgot to put socks on his feet the night before, and he stepped onto the floor heater, fell down and burned both feet and the side of one leg. The crying lasted for well over an hour. Poor thing!

I foresee a trip to the emergency room in the near future!
