Beautiful day at the zoo...

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Last weekend, before summer finally arrived, we had a really nice trip to the zoo. The weather was just perfect and the kids were well behaved. Here's some of the highlights:

The new play structure in the Children's Zoo was a hit with the kids. This is Sean's "cheese" face.

Sean was a little nervous on the Skyfari ride, but I didn't mind that he was holding on tight! Again with the "cheese" face!

A gorgeous view from the top of the ride.

This polar bear looks thirsty!

Lollipop Twins

A few weeks ago, at a Sunday concert in the park with friends, one mom brought out some lollipops to share with the kids. Caityn, of course, was in candy heaven. She rarely gets a chance to have a lollipop, but Sean had never had one before. What a drooly, slobbery mess he was!! Luckily, his lollipop ended up falling off the stick and into the grass, so I didn't have to follow him around sopping up his drool all night long!

Just look at all that drool!

Caityn looks surprised that I actually let her have a lollipop!

Little Fish

This summer Caityn took a two-week swim lesson. At the beginning of the summer, I was a little apprehensive about signing her up for the class, because she wouldn't take off her water wings in the pool, even if someone was holding on to her. I was worried that the instuctors would just throw her in the water and she would freak out. But throughout the summer, she gradually starting becoming more and more confident in the water. By the time she took the lessons, she was already swimming around by herself, and the lessons really boosted her confidence in the water. Now I can't get her to put her water wings ON!

No, she is not drowning! It is so funny to watch her swim with her little butt up in the air!

Friday Flashback

This one will embarrass two people...neither of them me! They look about the same age too!

My sister

Sean

Same piano - 30 years older!

And this one is just cute! I've held onto this dress for almost 30 years, and now (although outdated and falling apart) it fits Caityn!

Me - age 5

Caityn - age 3

New Friends

Last weekend we took a trip to the beach and came home with three spooky new friends...and the kids LOVE them!

Okay, that sounds a bit confusing. My uncle was trying to clear out some of the excess Halloween decor that they had sitting around in a corner of the house, so we volunteered to take some of it off his hands. These three light-up color-changing ghosts were a huge hit with the kids. They even took them to bed with them one night! Halloween is still two months away, but I have a feeling these guys are going to be haunting us until then!

Happy 1 1/2 Sean!

I've received a harassing reminder from a certain family member to update the blog because it's been two whole weeks since the last update! Jeez!! It's not like you never see the kids! So here's the update!

Sean just turned 18 months old. Here are his recent photos from the portrait studio. Even though I don't think the photographer captured his cutest smiles, they turned out pretty good considering Sean was being down right uncooperative throughout the entire photo session.

Okay family! Stake your claim!!

In other news, we now have a new camera that we are currently playing around with. I hope to have new and improved photos added to the blog soon.
